I am certified
These PFDs pass ISO 12402-5 (watersports) and ISO 12402-6 (paddlesport) standards. The majority of our PFDs have up to 20% more buoyancy than the ISO/CE standard and our whitewater models have up to 40% more buoyancy than the 50 N required. Palm was the first to make PFDs to these ISO standards, as part of our drive to make safer gear for everyone.
Cordura fabric
Cordura has exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, and high resistance to tears and abrasion. We use Cordura fabrics for the seat and knee areas of technical outerwear and for other high wear gear like PFDs and throwlines.
Flex Fit
A major innovation in PFD development: bonded into pre-formed shapes, the buoyancy foam curves around your body for unparalleled comfort and freedom of movement. This also allows us to tailor foam panels for a women’s specific cut without compromising buoyancy. Maximum floatation with minimum bulk. Try a Flex Fit PFD on and the benefits will be immediately apparent.
Removable chest harness
Our chest harness can be reversed, left-to-right, on most models. It fastens using a Fixlock buckle with a load spreader; closing firmly yet releasing quickly in an emergency. Strong 38 mm nylon webbing is mounted high up the back of the PFD for stability under load and carries a welded stainless steel O-ring for a cowtail or to clip a karabiner.
Failsafe Shoulder Straps
A continuous loop of webbing (tested to 5 kN) runs through to the PFD down to the 3D waistbelt for security under load. They tighten without bunching thanks to the enclosed pulley system. Excess webbing can be stored in strap keeper pockets on top of the front panel of the PFD.
3D anti ride-up waistbelt
A grippy rubber finish prevents your PFD from riding up when in use, and the adjustable waistbelt is positioned on the inside of the buoyancy foam panel for full contact around your waist.
